The Animal Protection Society (APS), in conjunction with Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF), will celebrate World Animal Day on Friday October 2 from 9 to 2 at the APS facility within the MAF compound on Cross Island road in Avele. APS is inviting several primary schools and colleges, as well as the general public to the APS compound for surgery and dog training demonstrations, talks on how to take care of dogs and cats.
Services that APS provides to the community. As well as visits to piggery, sheep and goat facilities. APS will run sessions for school students in order for them to better understand animal welfare and needs.
This is the second year that APS is providing activities and discussions on animal welfare in order to heighten the awareness of Samoans to the needs of the animals around us. World Animal Day was started in 1931 at a convention of ecologists in Florence as a way of highlighting the plight of endangered species. It has since been expanded to cover the plight and needs of all animals. The APS is trying very hard to commemorate it for the benefit of the future generations.
The vets, humane educator, and business manager as well as the executive committee of APS and members of MAF are teaming up to make the function happen in a professional way APS is designed to give everyone who attends a deeper understanding of our animal world. If you haven’t already decided how you’re going to celebrate.
World Animal Day this year, don’t delay any longer. Give some thoughts to how animals make our world the better place. The following schools will be there: Vaimauga College, Moataa Primary School, Chanel College, St Mary’s College, Malua Fou College, Vaisigano Senior College.
