Two families at Aleisa-uta have a lot to be thankful for as they say goodbye to 2017 and get ready to welcome the New Year.

The families of Vaomalo Sauaga and Vaiaga Simi, of Aleisa-uta, were featured in the Village Voice section of the Samoa Observer on Friday. They told of their struggles with water.

Yesterday, their prayers were answered when a prominent businesswoman, who does not want her identity revealed, bought two water tanks for each family. The donation cost more than $2,000.

The Village Voice team presented the water tanks to each family yesterday morning.

Vaomalo Sauaga was speechless.

“Words cannot express how I’m feeling right now,” she told the Village Voice.

“My husband is not here, he’s at our stall at the Fugalei market but this is the best gift for New Years.”

“I can go on the whole day saying thanks and it will not be enough.”

“This is a huge blessing for our family because we can finally have some healthy water as you can see the roof of our house it’s not clean but this water tank will help keep our water clean.”

She also acknowledged the Good Samaritan who donated the tank for her and her family.

“My prayer is that may the Lord open the heavens and pour out His blessings upon you and your family,” she said.

“We will forever be grateful for what you did. We also acknowledge the Village Voice team, especially the Samoa Observer for this great initiative to help families like us who are in need.”

Vaiaga Simi echoed Ms. Sauaga’s thoughts when her family received the water tank.

“We are so blessed to receive this,” she said. “Our prayer has been heard and it’s good timing too because we are getting ready for the new years and then this comes a long so I am so grateful.”

“We will put this into good use and look after it with care. Blessings such as this don’t come around often but we are happy and thankful.”

“As a mother I’m grateful because we will now have clean water to drink and use for our daily needs.”

“Thank you to the Good Samaritan who went out of her way to get this and most especially thank you Samoa Observer for the fantastic programme. This is the first time we have been featured in the paper and one day later our prayers have been answered.”

“May the Lord continue to bless the company and have a safe New Year to everyone.”
