It’s a farce

Re: Tonga and Rugby League World Cup

I love a good test match, Origin and NRL grand finals, and I’ve even played a season of league myself.

But this is not a World Cup. There are only five home-grown teams and the rest are made up.

I mean, a team of Aussies disguised as Lebanon beats France - one of the few legitimate nations involved and Oceania teams put 118 points on European teams in the opening round, whilst conceding only 14.

It’s a farce.

International league has gone backwards since rugby union turned pro. They haven’t laid the groundwork for international expansion, like union.

HQ in Australia runs the whole shebang, and their primary mandate will also be the NRL.
