Lauren Hann claimed the Warrior crown in the women’s race at Lalomanu. Her time of 6:47:00 was the fastest female time in the Ford Warrior Race on Saturday. Despite being the oldest female on the course on the day at 62 years of age, that did not however reflect her race, where she was the strongest finisher of all the competitors.

Hann got better as her race went on, and she could easily have continued to run until sundown. Thank goodness she did not need to prove that today, that she can compete from sunrise to sundown.

She was upbeat after the race. She showed very little sign of fatigue.

“It was a fantastic race, loved the course, and I think our Tri club in the ‘Naki should come over next year to support this great event.”

Hann’s husband and fellow traveller, 65 year old engineer Kevin Hann, did not quite share his wife’s bubbly persona after his race. He was more tired than Lauren was.

Kevin finished ahead of his wife this time, but it does not happen this way all the time.

“The heat was incredible, it is just so hot,” Kevin was quick to point out the obvious after his race.
