LIFETIME EXPERIENCE: Paul Hodson and his family, his wife Liza and his two sons, Ayrton and Cruz.

A 44-year-old New Zealander living in Samoa hooked the biggest catch in his lifetime yesterday.

Paul Hodson from Wellington took an hour to reel in the gigantic Swordfish, which weighed in at 130kgs.

Mr. Hodson was fishing on the Fua II Boat with his friend Vaughan Simpson when he got lucky.

“This is the biggest catch I’ve had ever since I started fishing,” he said.

“It was the perfect day to go fishing and Vaughan asked me to join them. I am grateful and happy that I tagged along with them.

“We were happy when we caught a masimasi fish but then the big one tops it off.” Mr. Hodson moved to Samoa from Wellington two weeks ago with his wife and children and was over the moon about his catch.

“This is a great start of our journey here in Samoa and I am a very happy man today.”

Mr. Simpson, of the Ca’bella Group owns the fishing boat.
