A new Strategic Plan for 2016 to 2020 promises to empower businesses in Samoa.
Compiled by the Samoa Chamber of Commerce, the plan titled “Powering Business Growth” outlines key areas the Chamber will commit to, to drive the growth of the private sector and local businesses.
Deputy Prime Minister, Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo, launched the Plan on Friday night during the Chamber’s function at Tuana’imato.
“This plan will focus on continuously leading the empowerment of business potential growth and innovation as a key partner to Samoa’s Private sector development,” said Fonotoe.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Plan is launched as the government is in the process of formulating its new Strategy for the Development of Samoa plan.
He said the S.D.S “is looking at opportunities for new employment creation for the overall development of the country.”
The President of the Chamber, Tuala Pat Leota, said the plan focuses on four strategic priorities. They include engaging more with its members, improving partnership and dialogue framework, leadership and finance and providing an enabling business environment.
“The Chamber intends to engage more with its members by building a strong and responsive organisation with premium membership information, facilitate improved and relevant information sharing and dissemination, support business development opportunities with a strong on focus on facilitating access to finance and trade to name a few,” Tuala said.
Encouraging efficiency of the members is one of the main targets of the Plan.
“We will do this by prioritising sector issues and formalise sector representatives with government to promote official policy positions from time to time.”
