Water issues in Samoa are getting out of hand.

Here is a mother from Aleisa who has been a victim of water problems for two years now.

Ilo Tolova’a, 58, is a mother of three and resides in Aleisa-uta.

Mrs. Tolova’a and her husband have been living here for almost two years now.

Speaking with Village Voice team yesterday, Mrs. Tolova’a said everything is well at her place except for water connection.

“Having no access to running water has made things really hard for us. Food is not a problem for us because we rely on our plantation.

“The only way we get water supply is from the family in front of our house because there is a pipe there and we also collect rainwater.”

Mrs. Tolova’a mentioned life is hard right now in Samoa especially with the cost of living.

“The life we have today in Samoa is really hard because everything now is all about money.

“My husband is the only person here in our family who has a job; he is a taxi driver.

“And that’s where the money comes from; we also survive through remittance from our other daughter living overseas.

“And then we have our plantation that helps us in so many ways, even though we haven’t sold anything yet, but we are just using it as a food provider for us.”

Mrs. Tolova’a says their water problem affects their daily chores.

“It has made our cooking so hard, as well as our cleaning because we do not have enough water all times.

“It is really hard living here in this part of the country when there is no running water to assist us with our food, cleaning and washing.”

Mrs. Tolova’a adds she enjoys her surroundings, but would fall in love with the place when there is water.

“I have enjoyed living here; it’s a nice and quiet place good for old people like me, away from all the stress and everything.

“But I would fall in love again with this piece of area when there is running water for my family.”
