Taula Eels celebrate Super 9 trophy

Super 9 Champions - Taula Vaimauga Eels marked their season’s triumph at the N.X.T. Marina last Saturday afternoon.

To celebrate, their Super 9 Championship and an undefeated season, the Vaimauga Senior team was hosted by Samoa Beverages Company, Taula and the Apia Rugby Union.

The mood and atmosphere at The Edge, Marina was festive as Samoa Beverages Company (S.B.C.) turned it on for the winners.

The event was attended by Hon. Afamasaga Rico Tupai, Leanna Ronnie Posini, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai C.E.O. of the Samoa Rugby Union and other prominent citizens from the Vaimauga District.

The celebration was well received by the team as they were treated to delicious dishes from The Edge Kitchen and 100 per cent grain Taula Original on the tap.   

The Keynote Address was given by Fuimaono Titimaea Tafua – President of the Apia Rugby Union and the Coach of Manu Samoa. 

Fuimaono praised the S.R.U. on the new Super 9 initiative and wished the tournament more success next year so that the standard of rugby in Samoa is raised higher. 

Fuimaono also expressed gratitude to Samoa Beverages Company, fondly addressed as Taula, for the year-long support to Apia Rugby Union. 

Fuimaono congratulated the Taula Eels on an unblemished performance because they remained undefeated throughout the Super 9 season. 

During the formalities Taula Eels presented their sponsors with the Super 9 Cup, Taula Eels Jersey and a placard to express their gratitude.

S.B.C.’s Commercial Manager, Mahendra (Mike) Mahimkar said: “The function today is for the champions. As a sponsor we believe that A.R.U. and Vaimauga Eels have performed commendably and this is our token of appreciation extended to them.”

Mike further added: “Watching Super 9 every week, we could feel the commitment and passion of each player has for the game of rugby. We should keep this positiveness and move forward.”

S.B.C. would also like to acknowledge the support and service provided by Daryl and Savili of The Edge. 

“The partnership with our outlets, we do cherish a lot.”
