A 10,000 litre water tank was donated to the home of the elderly at Mapuifagalele yesterday from the Bank of the South Pacific.

Chairman of B.S.P, Sir Kostas Constantinou, B.S.P Group C.E.O, Robin Fleming from Papua New Guinea and B.S.P Samoa C.E.O, Maryanne Lameko-Vaai were present at the handover ceremony.

The Head of B.S.P Retail Banking, Shirley Pauga said this project was funded by a fundraiser by the staff of B.S.P in Samoa.

“We also had a food stall that sold food. It was well received by the community and because of their giving nature; we managed to raise $2,840.”

So on Saturday last week, Shirley and her team had a clean up around Mapuifagalele compound.

“When we came here on Saturday, the sisters told us that they have been looking for some help to get some water tanks for Mapuifagalele. When she mentioned that to me, I didn’t promise her anything, all I said to her was that, we will see what we can do.

“So on Monday, I went to the Samoa Superior Poly Product and approached Mr. John Bellinger and he was kind enough to give a discount of 50% on the water tank.

“The total cost of the project including installation came down to a total of $5,700.”

The Chairman of B.S.P Group, Sir Kostas Constantinou was given the opportunity to say a few things about the project and to officially hand over the water tank to Mapuifagailele.

He highlighted the importance of the project.

“We all know that water is a very precious commodity,” said Sir Kostas.

“And that’s why this project is very important.”

Sir Kostas praised the B.S.P Retail banking division for their effort and great initiative.

“This is a staff-driven project and I want to thank our team here in Samoa for giving back to our communities.”
