Members of the Ti’avea-tai Methodist Church had all the reasons to rejoice yesterday.
After nearly four months of hard work, the church dedicated their new church building with a thanksgiving service and traditional formalities. The Church Minister, Reverend Umi Leatuafi Pritchard said the construction cost $161,112.75.
“The project started at the end of February so it took four months and three weeks to complete the building,” he said.
The Minister said the project was necessary.
“The reason why we built a new church is because the tsunami in 2009 damaged the old church building we had,” he said.
“So from 2009 until now, we have been using the church hall to conduct our services and so today we are celebrate a new era.”
The Reverend added that it has been a long journey but he is grateful that the project is finally finished. Looking ahead, Rev. Pritchard said the building is necessary to accommodate the growing flock as well as to house visitors.
