The former Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Education Sports and Culture, Matafeo Tanielu Aiafi has his eyes set on some of the top positions in government.

Matafeo’s job hunt follows an unsuccessful bid in the recent General Election to secure the seat for Faleata Urban Seat.

Faumuina Wayne Fong won the newly established seat for the electoral constituency.

During an interview with the Sunday Samoan, Matafeo confirmed that he had applied for the Samoa Tourism Authority and the Samoa Qualification Authority positions.

The C.E.O.s’ positions for S.Q.A., S.T.A. amongst other head of government State Owned Enterprises which includes Samoa Land Corporation and National Health Services were recently advertised.

“I did apply (at S.T.A.),” said Matafeo.

“The interview took place about four weeks ago and it’s going through the process where the panel makes a recommendation to Cabinet for them to endorse whatever that decision is.

“I haven’t heard from them but I am waiting the results.”

Matafeo could not confirm how many people were shortlisted for S.T.A. but said from hearsay, there were about five people interviewed.

The former C.E.O. also added he was also interested in the S.Q.A. position as he has a background in the education sector.

The position at S.Q.A. remains vacant following the passing away of former C.E.O. Fepuleai Sinapi Moli.
