The Head of State, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, congratulated Samoa’s new Supreme Court Justice yesterday.  He offered his congratulations at Tuaefu after Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala-Warren took her oath before colleagues, friends and relatives.

The Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu, was also present.

Justice Tafaoimalo is the second female to be appointed as District Court Judge, and is the second woman to be appointed as a Supreme Court Justice in Samoa.

“Today starts a new chapter in my life,” she said.

She thanked His Honor Chief Justice Patu for the opportunity given to her.

“Who am I that you entrusted this role to, I am honored,” she added.

Justice Tafaoimalo acknowledged her family, her mother, her brothers especially her husband and children.

“I wouldn’t be standing here today if it’s not for your love and support for which I thank you and for which I love you.”

Justice Tafaoimalo also honoured her father, the late Tuala Misi Tuala.

“My last hope in moving forward is to honor dad’s old memories by conducting myself in this new role with honesty, integrity and humility.”

Proud husband, Aiden Warren, said their family is honoured by Tafaoimalo’s new calling. Her eldest daughter, Tatiana Warren, described her mother as her role model. Justice Tafaoimalo will commence her work next Monday in the Supreme Court.
