The Government has moved to assure that there is nothing to worry about in terms of Attorney General Lemalu Hermann Retzlaff’s health.

 The assurance was made in a statement issued by the Press Secretary yesterday, responding to speculations about Lemalu’s health condition.

One concerned Samoan wrote to the Samoa Observer from Auckland.

“He (Lemalu) was seen at a West Auckland clinic in NZ Friday last week not looking well. He's limping and his skin has marks on it. He's lost weight fast and he looks pale,” Manu Felelei wrote.  

“But I noticed that he's still very polite and friendly at the clinic. He helped an elderly lady there with her bags.”

But the Government confirmed that Lemalu is on leave for routine medical checks with the Prime Minister’s blessing.

"This has been a constructive and timely period in NZ for organising links for the work we need to undertake for the remainder of the year," Lemalu is quoted as saying. 

He reports it is nothing serious or ongoing and he is looking forward to being back in the office and performing his duties as the A.G. after the Easter break.

 He has also taken the time to make contact with counsel assisting the A.G.'s office from Crown Law in Auckland.
