A 33-year-old from the village of Tapatapao, has a very positive out look on life, despite the present circumstances..

His name is Hakai Hakai.

“Life is not easy anymore.

“The cost of living is very expensive and it’s making ithard for most of us.

“There is no need to hide that there are a lot of families who are struggling trying to find ways to earn money to help out their families.”

However, the 33-year-old father believes that the main key in life is to never give up trying.

“That is something we all need to look at. You know there are a lot of changes in our country nowadays.

“And things are complicated and life is expensive.

“But we will just suffer if we don’t do anything about it. If you just sit and wait for others to do the work for you, you will end up struggling in the life.

“What I am trying to say is to never let this discourage you from working. You will reap the fruits of your labour if you don’t give up.

“Even if it rains, we should still work.”

Hakai is a father of three children. He works at his plantation six days of the week.

Said Hakai, he enjoys being a farmer.

“It’s not easy, but I love what I do because I depend on it to provide money for me and my family.

“I don’t work alone, there are other boys from the village who work with me in planting all different types of crops and we sell it all to get money.

“We plant and sell banana, taro, pumpkins, cabbages and other vegetables.

“If we have a lot of stuff to sell during the week, we get $1,000 and that is a lot of money.

“For me, there is no other job better than this.

“You don’t need to wait until pay day to get money. You can sell vegetables every day and get money every day.”

Moreover, Hakai believes that we shouldn’t complain and do nothing to improve our lives.

“Like I mentioned before, nothing in this life is perfect.

“We don’t have a lot of money as well. But if we just complain and do nothing, we will get nothing.

“But if we keep trying and work hard, no matter how hard life can be, we can still survive.”
