Moata’a avenged their loss two weeks ago by securing the top spot at last week’s Bluesky National 7s against Apia Maroons, winning 22-12 in the Cup final.

The tournament was dedicated to eliminating violence against women.

Moata’a team won by default during the first round and defeated Ifilele Luatuanu’u on their last pool game 28-5 at fulltime.

Moata’a proceeded to the Cup quarter-finals and defeated SCOPA 12-19 in a close encounter.

The upset of the tournament saw Tepatasi (1) knocking out favorites Ulalei BBE Vaiala, 19-14 during the quarter-final stage.

Other quarter final clashes from last week saw Vailele hammering Sa’asaai (1) 22-19 and round three champions, Apia Maroon defeating Savai’i Vikings 17-12 at fulltime.

In the women’s division, Aana Blues again emerged victorious defeating Aleipata during the final clash by 15-7 at fulltime.

Apia Maroon went head to head against Magiagi Women’s team for the 3rd and 4th place where Apian Maroon nailed the Magiagi side 42-5 at fulltime.

The men’s division first semi-final clash saw Apia Maroon defeating Vailele team 12-7 and Moata’a defeating Tepatasi (1) during the second semi-final clash by 19-12 at fulltime.

Vailele then went on play Tepatasi (1) for the 3rd and 4th spot, but Vailele claimed the 3rd spot after winning by default.

In the Cup final, Moata’a scored three consecutive tries against Apia Maroons during the first half, giving Apia Maroon a hard time closing the gap in the second half scoring only two tries.

That is a wrap up for the Bluesky National 7s 2017.

The Bluesky National Tens tournament kicks off next week which will take place on December 2nd and December 9th.
