David Lomas enjoys his visits to Samoa every time he gets the chance to fly over from New Zealand.

This is his third time in Samoa. This time, he is accompanying his wife who is attending a conference.

He told the Dear Tourist team that there are so many reasons to return to the island.

“It is just a very nice place to come to relax and chill out,” David said.

“It is great to come for the sunshine and having the opportunity to wear the shorts again because it is winter back home.”

He first visited the island some eight years ago and since then, he highlighted the visible changes, which include resorts and accommodations.

And although infrastructural changes are evident, David said the people of Samoa are still the same and that to him is very important.

David said with the wave of change slowly sweeping over the island with new foreign businesses, he fears the loss of culture.

“I can’t see the loss of culture yet, but I guess with more changes in the future it could happen with the worldwide trade and all the shops coming in etc.,” he explained.

For David, he prefers that Samoa keep its authentic culture and beauty.

He believes people define the country and its culture.

He shared the purpose of accompanying his wife is to just relax and escape the cold back home.

“One thing that I would be concerned about is when I come with my grandchildren to the pool, I don’t see anyone watching over them for safety reasons,” David said.

The experience he’s had in this trip will definitely see his return soon.
