Samoa Surf Riders Association held a local Surf Competition at Aganoa Beach Faala, Savai’i last weekend.

After helping with the Samoa Savaii Tourism Association (S.S.T.A) Keep Savai’i Clean Community Clean Up, it was straight into the rounds for the U16s men’s.

Starters for this were Pule Martin, Lino Fofoga, and the up and comers from Luatuanu’u Upolu, Sa’ilele and Remo.

Open Men’s consisted of Chris Martin, Andrew Fofoga and the Upolu boys Junior and Pea.

While this was being run, the team of workers from Aganoa Lodge were busy running a BBQ Fund Raiser for the team at Salelologa.

Competition ended up with a six man final.

First place went to Chris, second Pule, third Andrew, fourth Salele, fifth Junior and sixth Lino.

“Our sympathies go out to Lino who was in the position to win but unfortunately cut his foot requiring 3 stitches and an early retirement from the Final,” the tournament organisers say.

“A special thanks to all the staff from Aganoa Lodge who helped run the Fundraiser, and all the Families on Savaii who contributed unselfishly towards the Teams trip to Japan next month

“A big thanks as well to the Team from Upolu for making this a great event and Fun Weekend for all.

“We need many more of these to help raise the standard of Surfing here in Samoa. The Team are still searching for more local sponsors.”
