CHECKING OUT THE PRODUCTS: Officials inspect what Samoa has to offer.

The President of the Samoa Association of Manufacturers & Exporters (S.A.M.E), Tagaloa Eddie Wilson; executive and members of S.A.M.E met with the a delegation from the United States and Japan at the Travellers Point Malifa, last week.

The meeting looked at export ready food and beverage products from Samoa for the U.S.A and the Japanese market. 

The delegation was led by Crystal Corcorad, the grand-daughter of the former Prime Minister of Samoa, the late Tofilau Eti Alesana. She was accompanied by FL Network U.S.A and Japan Executive Directors as well as their main distributors in Tokyo Japan.

The delegation witnessed Samoa’s latest selection of Export Ready products - such as Pacific Oil’s virgin coconut oil; Samoa’s own boutique beers-such as Vailima Export; Pure & Vailima Natural as well as Taula; Manutagi and Sama; Snack products from Tropical Crisps; Cocoa Nibs and Paste from Nora’s Plantation; Wilex Samoa’s Milk & Dark Chocolates-and Macadamia and Almonds of Samoan origin; Samoa’s own Chilli sauce; CCK Honey & Coffee; Breadfruit flour and avocado oil produced by SROS; as well as various Nonu Juices from various SAME exporters.

FL Network USA has 365 shops outlets throughout Japan which distributes their products and employ over 7,000 people. 

Tagaloa highlighted the quality of Samoan made niche products as witnessed by the delegation, and the fact that the local producers are ISO 9001:2008 and HACCP Certified.

The delegation were impressed with the quality of the products on display and expressed interest in trial shipments as well as agreeing to work with SAME on packaging and labelling for new products from Samoa aimed at the Japanese and USA markets.
