FULL OF AMBITION: Sililo Iese from the village of Lauli’i.

Sililo Iese, from the village of Lauli’i admits that without talent and skill, you are of little use in this world.

Village Voice caught up with Sililo when he was doing some painting work yesterday.

“I think growing up, I’ve found that this is the only work I’m good at; this is the only work I want to do.

Sililo is currently doing some carpentry for one of the families that just returned from overseas.

“I’m lucky that I have found work to do even though it’s only temporary.

“You know, when this is done, it’s done. Then I have to start looking for other jobs like these that suit my skills.”

The 23-year-old said that he works to give his family the help they need.

He has eight siblings and he is the sixth child.

“I come from a big family and it’s a good thing that most of my siblings work because we all need to support our family.

“I know when a lot of their family members work, some people feel they don’t need to work but that’s not me.

“I try my best to find work because I love my parents and I want to help them out as well.

“I want to help out my younger siblings with their school.

“Another reason is that I just don’t want to be someone that roams around without money in their pockets and that’s what I’ve noticed most of the youth doing.

“I don’t want to be the type to rely on other people and ask my older siblings for money.

“Carpentry is the kind of work I’m good at.

“I’m also good at painting houses and sometimes when I’m not doing this, I work in the plantation.

“Temporary work is all I have at the moment but I would love to have this as a permanent job, you know, becoming a real carpenter.

“Any job that suits the skills I have, I believe that I can do it and if there is anything that’s new to me in this field, I can learn. I just want to build and develop a career as a great carpenter.”

If you want to help out Sililo Iese by offering him a job that suits the skills he has, please contact him through number 7281575.
