The Samoa Touch Rugby Association kicked started the year with a massive one-day tournament yesterday.

Sixteen teams from across Upolu competed  looking to claim the top prize.

The touch tournament saw some of the best rugby talent across codes take the pitch like: Sevens players, national tens representatives, national touch reps, rugby league stars and much more.

The Association hosted two finals one for the bottom eight and top eight teams.  This was incredible opportunity for teams to get back into competitive mode.

This year, Samoa’s Touch Rugby gained a major sponsor, Sheraton, who helped make the tournament possible.

The Accounts Manager from Sheraton, Suavi Tuilaepa,  attended the event on behalf of the company.  He stated, “We are always looking to partner with local associations who are doing a tremendous job.  We want to make sure we look after our people.  We have world class facilities  that we want to share with Samoans.”

“We have a really big program for this year. This is just to get our clubs ready in action for what s happening this year. We were fortunate this year that Sheratons come to support us.  We’ve got all the clubs here.  We’re really excited for 2017: we’ve got some international events, the Marist Tournament and the National Competition happening as well. Its really exciting year for us in Samoa Touch Rugby.”
