Hard work essence of success

Hard work is the key to success.

This is a lesson we need to teach our children so that they take the right path in life.

These were the words of Moto’otua Tereti from Nu’u Fou and Vaisala Savai’i.

The 27-year-old believes hard work is the real essence to achieving great things.

Moto’otua moved from Savai’i to Nu’u Fou a few years ago.

“But this is me; I want to go further and experience different opportunities in life while I still have time,” he told the Village Voice yesterday while on his way to Marine School at Vaitele-Tai to study.

He is also a qualified electrician and he prefers being self-employed.

“I love doing it because this determines the future of me and my family every day,” Moto’otua said.

“Most of the time I do my own work at home and what I really like about it is that you’re your own boss; you can rest whatever time you want, you can work when you feel like it.”

He said: “Most importantly you get to spend most of your time with your family.

“Yes, parents are hardly seen at home because of work but that’s up to the person because we all have different callings.

“So what I’m dreaming of is to become a sea fearer in the future and explore what the world has for my life and my family.”

Aside from hard work, he believes the only problem nowadays is the expensive cost of living.

“Whether you want to go to school or have your own plantation, we all need money to work it out.

“I think that’s the problem in our world today, life is very expensive, the cost of everything are way beyond the moon.

“We just can’t do anything about it.”

Moreover, he said there were many ways to cope with the expensive cost of living.

“Some may think increase in living cost is normal but to others it may be chaos,” added Moto’otua.

“We should spend wisely for the good and the necessary.

“We all have dreams but we have to budget well, if you’ve ever dreamed about becoming someone, or even just being financially stable, you need to teach yourself how money works and how you can best use it to reach your goals.

“Because, money is important to accomplish the things you want in life and we should learn how to use it wisely.”
