Minister Loau to open Education Sector Review

The Minister of Education, Sports and Culture (M.E.S.C.), Loau Keneti Sio, will open a conference to discuss the achievements and challenges of the Education sector for 2015 and 2016.

To be held at the Conference room of the T.A.T.T.E. Building, the Midterm Review for the Education sector kicks off at 8.30am. 

Participants and stakeholders of the sector will be welcomed by the Vice Chancellor of the National University of Samoa (N.U.S.), Professor Fui Asofou So’o. The Chief Executive Officer of M.E.S.C, Afamasaga Dr. Karoline Fuatai will provide an overview about the challenges, achievements and the financial side.

“This is another milestone of many M.E.S.C activities through it’s Education Sector Plan to ensure inclusive equitable quality education and life-long learning opportunities for all,” a statement from the Ministry said yesterday. 

“The review will focus on providing a progress overview of the Education Sector third annual review FY2015-FY2016 and the review of the Education Sector Plan 2013-2018.”

The goal is to discuss the progress of key achievements and challenges of the Sector’s performance for the FY2015-FY2016. It will also review the Ministry’s strides that were made in the delivery of its mandate of providing quality, equitable and accessible education to all citizens.

The midterm review will provide a platform to share views and ideas with the Sector’s Stakeholders to gauge alternative ways to improve the implementation and monitoring of the remaining activities of the Education Sector Plan FY2016-2017. Representatives from government Ministries, community, other stakeholders as well as the Education Sector’s agencies (M.E.S.C., Samoa Qualification Authority, National University of Samoa) will be present.
