As far as themes for birthday celebrations go, Jonah Junior Pai’a’aua’s choice for his 21st birthday is an interesting one.

JJ’s love of sport, especially rugby, was reflected in the theme ‘Jerseys of the Rugby World Cup.’

The young man celebrated with his friends, families and loved ones. He was described by his mother, Matimaivasa Sekuini, as a loving person.

The third of four siblings and the only brother to three sisters, his mother said JJ loves rugby.

“Junior likes watching rugby and that’s why we’ve decided on a theme for everyone to wear on his special day,” she said.

“His favourite teams are the Manu Samoa, All Blacks, Australia and Africa.”

“And when it comes to the Sevens, Junior can watch from the beginning right to the end and the only time he rests is when he goes to bed.”

“Honestly no matter what time rugby is on the T.V. whether it’s in the middle of the night or at day time, J.J. will always be watching.”

“So seeing everyone in jerseys today was a real joy for our son and he really enjoyed it.”

Matimaivasa added that her son loves going to church.

“His favourite activities are attending church and Sunday School,” Matimaivasa said.

“From a young age, J.J’s normal routine on Sunday is to get ready to go to church and Sunday School. He gets ready before everyone. He doesn’t want to be late.”

Junior’s parents are Matimaivasa Sekuini and Pai’a’aua Iona of Siumu and Saletogaloa, Savai’i.
