You can do this, Manu Samoa!

The Manu Samoa benefitted from the wisdom of former players who gathered to encourage the team ahead of their test match against Germany at Apia Park on Saturday.

The meeting took place at the Samoa Rugby Union headquarters at Tuanaimato where captain Chris Vui and his men sat and listened to words of advice from the former players, including global rugby legend Sir Laauli Savae Michael Jones.

The meeting was set up to try and spark the men in blue to play the kind of rugby the Manu Samoa is known for. After a losing streak of 10 matches, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi criticised the players last week.

Having called them “no guts,” Tuilaepa said if they lose to Germany at Apia Park this Saturday, they should resign from the team.

But that was not the spirit with which the former players took to their meeting with the current crop.

Sir Michael encouraged Captain Chris Vui and the team to remain strong and think positive.

Sir Michael’s shared by other rugby greats including Fesolai Vaaiga Tuigamala, Muliagatele Brian Lima, Filipo Saena, Loau Keneti Sio, Mahonri Schwalger, Matafeo George Latu and Galumalemana George Stowers.
