I write with regards to your editorial titled “God blesses people who are prepared to work”.

Great editorial and kudos to the scrupulous parlance that you surely impel the lazy people syndrome being the evil caused of poverty in our country to help make themselves more productive.

A country’s economy is measured by its gross domestic productions and being of course the essence of her local citizens contribution to help drive it into prosperity. Failing that then it’s doomed to weakness.

I whole heartedly agreed 100 per cent infinite with every aspects of your piece to praise all who are making a positive effort to earn as well as those who need to make an effort to provide for survival.

You mentioned people being tangled up to the trap of luxury over necessity hence a very serious problem surely had handicapped many in Samoa; a cellular phone over food etc.?

As a country with a responsible government, to help stimulate the economy the focus is to invest in the people.

The small businesses being the backbone of any economy they need the government assistance.

A couple or so days ago I saw herein the Liquor Board and Minister made a round in Savai’i waving fines rather education first and foremost; obey the law or face the law.

That same characteristic way of thinking is needed by the villagers in the pecking order of how to spin the dough to get necessity before luxury; you can’t have a television if there is no electricity; you can’t have electricity if there is no food; you can’t have food unless you work hard to earn; you can’t work hard to earn if you don’t know what and how to plant.

The very same scale applies to 9 to 5 workers; you can’t earn your wages unless you have a fare to reach work; you can’t survive work unless you have a lunch.

The government employee in the villagers (Mayor) had to be utilised to deliver the educational message to the people. Hence the pecking order; educate the Mayor first to understand his or her mission rather throwing the sheep to the hungry wolves.

And when you have all the money in the world within your disposal, then you can have all the luxuries; a car a boat and a whatever you had wish,

We ought to sweat the forehead to work the organic fertile green pasture land of Samoa for food and a gold mine to earn comfort for a prosperous family future. With my utmost respect
