Minister of Education Sports and Culture, Loau Keneti Sio, is confident that Heavyweight Champion, Lupesoliai La’auli Joseph Parker, will win his fight this weekend.

Lupesoliai will take on Anthony Joshua in Cardiff, Wales, this Sunday (local time).

In an interview with Samoa Observer yesterday, Loau says Lupesoliai will be supported by Samoans all over the world.

With three more days to go before the unification fight, Loau believes Samoa’s champion is at his best physique and is prepared well for this fight.

“For me, I am confident that Lupesoliai is going to win this fight against Anthony Joshua.”

Loau said if Lupesoliai can get Joshua real quick within the first round, he will definitely win the fight.

“I think we have got our son in a proper physique at the moment, but I just want it him to get into the game real quick, getting Joshua right at the first round because Joshua will be running around like the other fighters.”

“The only thing will get Joshua to change his tactic is because he is scared of Joseph Parker, and that is why Parker needs to get in as fast as he can.”

“I can also assure that Joseph Parker’s chin can take the punches from Joshua. The first round will determine the big picture behind the whole 12-round fight and that’s where we will see who has the strongest chin of the two.”

Loau mentioned Samoa’s national anthem will also be sung at the Joseph Parker fight this weekend.

“This fight is important to Samoa because it puts our country out there.”

“Win or lose, we will still have that huge milestone where Lupesoliai has taken us this far for in the stage of international boxing.”

Loau also commented writer and boxing analysts have come to realise the potential Lupesoliai has and the high probability he has of winning this fight.

“Parker said he has noticed the difference in his preparations now and his previous preparations. He is now feeling more energetic from his shoulders to his elbow that he had an operation on last November.”

Loau is calling on the people of Samoa all around the world to get behind one of Samoa’s favourite sons.
