It is with deepest sorrow that Governor Lolo M. Moliga and Lieutenant Governor Lemanu Palepoi Sialega Mauga announce the passing away earlier of the late Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Fa’aua’a Hunkin.

Faleomavaega died peacefully at his home in Provo, Utah after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his wife Hinanui and family.

The Congressman lived a life of service to his people, to American Samoa, and to the community of the Pacific.

After service in the U.S. Army including serving in Viet Nam, and upon obtaining his law degree, he joined the Office of American Samoa’s Delegate to Washington D.C., A.U. Fuimaono. Following that in 1977 he became Staff Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs.
