The bigger better network, Digicel, has heard the call of the nation and answered with a generous donation of $5,000.

The donation was presented by Digicel Samoa’s Chief Executive Officer, Rory Condon, to Adele Kruse who is the Chairperson for Samoa Offering Hope (S.O.H) on Friday.

Mr. Condon said he was moved by the devastation caused by the fire and felt that the help of his company was needed.

“We want to present this cheque of $5,000 tala for a fantastic and worthy cause,” Mr. Condon said.

“Digicel was very saddened and moved by the fire that took place just across the road. So much destruction with many people affected”

“A lot of small business owners, stall owners, family livelihoods were impacted.

This was also a way for Mr. Condon and his company to honor their partnership with the small businesses that were affected.

“Digicel has long been supporters of small businesses and you know small businesses are the bedrock of the economy,” Mr. Condon said.

“Digicel relies on partnership with hundreds and hundreds of small businesses to deliver our products and services across Samoa. In particular we have 22 resellers, 22 very valued partnerships that were in the market.

“In fact, five of the top 10 partners were located there”

But the key reason for the donation was to try to help out the families

“It is really important from my perspective to support these businesses the best that we can,” Mr. Condon said

“To help people get back on their feet and to help them provide a living and a livelihood for their families again.”

The donation was much appreciated by Ms. Kruse who acknowledged all that Digicel has done for Samoa.

“We know Digicel has always been there for our community and this is another way to show what you are doing for Samoa,” she said.
