All talents are from God and they are given to people to use them wisely.
For Pati Pati, 24 years of age from the village of Levi-Sale’imoa, his gift to play volleyball is a good money earner at this time of the year.
He was taking part in a volleyball competition promising a lucrative cash prize in his village.
Pati admitted that his family is struggling in terms of finances and they could do with some cash from the volleyball.
“My family is really struggling in terms of finances because of the expensive cost of living,” he said.
“There are only two people in our family that are working and that is me and my mother.
“While me and my mother both work, the money we earn from our jobs are really not that much but we try hard to budget it well.”
Winning the volleyball tournament will be great for his family.
“I am on my way to participate in the Cash-in Volleyball tournament just here in our village.
“I think this is one good way to earn a few dollars for me and my family during this festive season.
“I have been playing volleyball when I was a kid and I think I can earn some money today.”
Mr. Pati added his two sisters don’t work, but they help out with their family’s vegetable garden.
“Their husbands are the ones working on our plantation to make sure that even if we don’t have money but we still have food on the table.”
So what happens if they win the tournament?
“Then we will be looking at going around to find some other tournaments so we can win some more money.”
