The I.C.T industry in Samoa stands to benefit tremendously once the Tui Samoa Cable and other similar cables go live.  

That was the message Bluesky’s Country Manager, Alex Abraham.

He was speaking during the Samoa Chamber of Commerce monthly members’ meeting held at Bluesky Samoa’s main office at Maluafou. 

Sponsored by Bluesky Samoa, Mr. Abraham welcomed members and spoke briefly on the potential benefits of the ICT industry once the Tui Samoa Cable and other similar cables go live.  

Sales Director Dave Main, presented further on the evolution of the internet from an interactive state to becoming the internet of people (age of social media) to what can now be described as the internet of things. 

While many developed countries have the money to accommodate the internet of things, the question of whether Samoa needs, wants and uses it can be summed up in foresight. 

While in Samoa, we already have smart-watches, fitbits, vehicle tracking and drones to name a few, an enquiring millennial generation will see and subsequently utilize more exciting new technology to come.

Mr. Main used smart meters as an example of an “internet of thing” that could potentially be used by E.P.C and S.W.A to measure units, leakage and inform users on their personal cell phones when limit is reached. 

Samoa will soon benefit from the fast paced changes happening in the local and regional I.C.T sector. 

The meeting was chaired by Chamber President, Tuala Pat Leota, who acknowledged the ongoing support of the private sector and members of Chamber in various Chamber activities and policy positions. 

The Samoa Chamber is currently conducting the Business Confidence Survey; a valuable tool informing its position/submissions on various issues affecting business at the national level, and business owners were encouraged to complete and submit the survey.
