Muslim Samoan woman writes

Dear Editor,

I’m a Muslim Samoan since 2011 and this branch thing that “some” Muslims are into is just non-sense.

As Muslims we’re supposed to be one ummah, one nation, not billion different sects, you know? It’s just sad.

I just believe in One God, the One that created me, the heavens and earth, created Jesus without a father and created Adam without any parents.

I’m a Muslim and only God knows what’s in my heart, even if I were to say I’m from a sect of Islam, only God knows which path I truly belong to. :)

I grew up in Samoa and the thought of travelling to Samoa has been scary for me because as a woman I implement the hijab (the fully body and head covering) and I worry for my safety from the ignorant Samoans who only learn what they think is the truth from the news.

I miss my homeland and I’m glad to see that there are Muslims in Samoa and if God wills, I’d love to go back and visit my family some time.
