Malaki Lei Sam takes out 1Touch Health Transformation Challenge

OneTouch Ministries completed its 10-Week Bootcamp Health Transformation Challenge recently.

Malaki Lei Sam was crowned its champion, becoming the 15th winner of the ‘Tuliaupupu Pala Lima ’trophy.

Malaki Lei Sam’s transformation is nothing short of inspirational and miraculous.

Malaki has suffered a lot of health problems over the years and this had restricted his ability to exercise, as well as slowly losing his flexibility and experiencing shortness of breath.

When Malaki attended the Bootcamp training for the first time he was placed in our low impact group (who are called ‘Champions’) and struggled right from the outset. But within two weeks, his fitness levels increasingly improved and he found himself moving up to our level one group.

However, the exercise was only part of his successful transformation.

Malaki soon realized just how important nutrition would play in the overall transformation of his health and as a result, he fasted from refined sugars and processed foods.

In the nutrition seminar, Pastor Lenny Solomona teaches the negative effects refined sugar and highly processed foods have on the body.

“The biggest challenge was trying to overcome my unhealthy eating habits and start getting used to eating healthy foods like vegetables and fruits. I also learnt the importance of portioning my meal size. One of the sacrifices I made was to ‘fast’ from eating fasipovi masima.”

And by fasting he is referring to one of 1Touch Ministries pillars of success.

“Pastor Lenny shares the difference between fasting and trying to achieve something that we often struggle to do in our own will power. He said the problem with depending on our own will power is that our biology will always outlast it, but when we approach it with a fasting’’ mindset, we’re not depending on our will power but we’re depending on God.”

Malaki’s new and improved body took a lot of hard work, but he says his faith played a tremendous role. “In the beginning, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to overcome my unhealthy lifestyle without having faith in God.

By trusting in the Lord, he helped me overcome all the challenges that caused my body to become sick for so long”.

Other big transformations included 17 year old, Temukisa Tuliaupupu, Talaleu Ah Kuoi, Betty Pinati and Segi Vaá.

Pastor Lenny and Tai Solomona are the Directors of 1Touch Ministries. It’s a ministry they launched in 2014 with the aim of reaching Samoa with a supernatural message of health. In other words, they don’t just teach health but they teach it from a biblical perspective.

Pastor Lenny says, “I truly believe if we would just follow the principles of God according to Genesis 1:29 and then allow him to lead us in our journey according to Philippians 4:13, we will see transformation for what it really is. God is the true MasterChef”.  The program begins with a nutrition presentation, and it’s here that Pastor Lenny combines what he describes the ‘pillars ‘of the program.

“The programme is built on four pillars. The first is God, in other words, don’t put your trust in your own ability or even in the program or the trainers; put your complete trust in God.

“If you walk by faith and not by sight, nothing is impossible with him. Exercise. Exercise increases cardiovascular strength and it even slows down the aging process. Nutrition and hydration.

Eat natural foods because the closer you get to nature the closer you get to health. Drink plenty of water because your body consists mainly of it. And finally, Recovery. Listen to your body and rest when the body needs it. God did all the hard work in the first six days and then he rested on the seventh”.

Pastor Lenny and Tai acknowledge that the four years 1Touch Ministries has been in operation would not have been possible if it weren’t for what he describes as their ‘Dream Team’.

“Our team are absolutely incredible, and I don’t make this comment lightly. 1Touch Ministries is living out its vision because we have a powerhouse group of people, who over the past four years, have dedicated and volunteered their time outside their busy careers to run with the vision God gave Tai and I back in 2014.  They are the true heroes of this ministry”.

The fourth and final Challenge for 2017 begins this week with the Nutrition presentation.

This will be held at T.A.T.T.E Building today, Wednesday 27th September, in the Foyer area from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

The nutrition presentation is free entry and open to the public. Registration will then open on Thursday and Friday 28th and 29th from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Cost is $100.00 per individual. The Bootcamp starts on Monday 2nd October at the Tuanaimato Cricket Field at 6.00pm.
