BELLA BELLA, British Columbia (AP) — Plans to show off one of British Columbia's most beautiful areas to Prince William and his wife, Kate, were scuttled by bad weather.

The aerial tour of Canada's Great Bear Rainforest and a boat tour of Bella Bella Harbour for the British royals were canceled Monday.

Winds gusted, the water was choppy and it was pouring rain on British Columbia's central coast, an area well known for its wet weather.

William and Kate were greeted with a rousing cheer when they arrived at the Wawiskas Community Hall, where they met aboriginal community members and about two dozen hereditary chiefs who were part of the official welcoming party.

Their children, Prince Charlotte and Prince George, are remaining in Victoria as planned as William and Kate tour the province and the Yukon.
