Levalasi Vivian Su'a is stepping out from her comfort stone to live her childhood dream as one of the nine contestants who will be vying for the Miss Samoa crown in a few weeks time.

In doing so, she has the blessing from her parents Mafua Sealiitu Andrew Su’a and Sifomailagi Motiana Siaosi  Su’a, her sister and three brothers not to mention her relatives and church the Samoa Worship Centre but most importantly to the Miss Le Naumati Creations contestant is the endorsement from her father in heaven.

Elaborated a cheerful Levalasi Vivian;

"I have been watching the Miss Samoa Pageant from a very young age which inspired me where I told myself that one day I will run for Miss Samoa, and here I am today.”

" I firmly believe that this is God’s timing for me to step out from my comfort zone and take part in the Miss Samoa Pageant 2018.”

" Also, this is a good opportunity to showcase my uniqueness as a Tamaitai Samoa and as a person of value in terms of my gifts and talents and especially my character.

" If it's God's will for me to win then so shall it be and that's for His name's sake," added the 22-year old intern with the United Nations Development Programme under the GEF Small Grants Programme.

Climate change is her chosen pageant platform which is a perfect fit to her professional career.

Elaborated Levalasi Vivian;

"I want to be part of the solution and as a young adult, I have already started working with schools, village communities and youth organizations to create initiatives to tackle climate change through implementing climate action initiatives. "For instance, raising awareness of our children, women, youth and men within our villages and communities on the impacts because the level of capacity at the community level is very low, let alone, it is not effective."

And she plans to engage stakeholders on the decision making level like representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Ministry of Education. 

"I love working with students to up skill their knowledge, " she continued. "I will be the leading advocate to empower and enrich many and will create a campaign to raise awareness, promote and implement climate resilient action activities.

"The target is to minimize carbon emissions cited as a major cause of the unpredictable climate change which is a threat to mankind including our country."

She is certain that the Pageant experience will help boost her self confidence and will offer new opportunities to meet new people and expand her horizons.

Hailing from the villages of Salelavalu, Satupaitea, Sapapalii, Lano, Fasitoo-Uta, Tufulele, Tiavea, Sinamoga, Maagiagi and Vaitele Fou, Levalasi Vivian started her education journey with the Anglican Pre-School at Malifa and off to the Saint Mary’s Primary School from Year 1-8 before graduating from Samoa College.

Her education continued at the National University of Samoa completing the UPY with a Certificate in Arts in 2014.

And by April this year, Levalasi is a proud holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts double majoring in Sociology and Management.

Win or lose, where to from here?

"I strongly believe that no one lives for his/her own good," replied Miss Le Naumati. "We have to work and provide for others to show love and compassion.

" In saying that, I will continue working and providing for my family, enjoying the fellowship with my church family and be of service to anyone who needs my help."
