The Frankie 2018 Samoa Food and Wine Trade Expo is an event that should be encouraged.
Held at the Taumeasina Island Resort, one of the companies that took part is Unilever. They used the opportunity to highlight their presence in Samoa.
Unilever produces a variety of products from food to hygiene, which are being sold in about 190 countries around the world.
In Samoa, Unilever sells their products to Frankie’s and is also involved with other smaller companies on the island.
Company representative in Samoa, Poloma Salimata said: “We are a big company worldwide and have a big range of products to offer.”
According to Mr. Salimata, for a company to be successful in Samoa depends on the prices of the products.
“I think the price of our products is affordable for Samoans,” Mr. Salimata said.
Mr. Salimata is Samoan and understands the culture and the way things are done.
It is also through his three-year experience as a Unilever representative in Samoa that he is able to share this knowledge.
He added that events like the Wine and Food Trade Expo should be encouraged to allow businesses to foster relationships and promote the products that are available on the market.
The Expo, which ended yesterday, was officially opened by Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sa’ilele Malielegaoi on Monday when he congratulated the Owner of Frankie’s, Frankie Cai for the initiative.
“For him to go out of his way and pay the expenses is indicative of the great imagination, the entrepreneurship that this business man has and for him to grow his business in Samoa and also help all those other enterprises to have an opportunity to display their wares,” he said.
“This is the only opportunity for us to see the initiative of the business people here.”
