If water is life, how can living people survive without it?

The fact remains that accessing clean water on a daily basis remains a challenge for some families in Samoa.

Ask Fuaina Toa, 47, of Afega uta and he will tell you.

The father of six said this is their biggest challenge.

“Since we came here to live it the plantation with my family, this is our biggest struggle,” he said.

Fuaina said while water is available, they cannot pay their water bill. Which is why it has been cut.

“At the moment we fetch our  water from one of our neighbours. It is my role to beg for water.”

“That’s one of the hardest jobs in my family because my children are young.”

“We use water in everything inside and outside. It’s a big job.”

Fuaina does not have a formal job.

Which makes access to money equally difficult.

“What we are desperately needing right now is money to pay our outstanding water bill.”

“So we sell the fruits of our land just to get money, we budget everything when we have money but it’s still not enough.”

Fuaina said the cost of living is way too expensive.

“Everything in life is very expensive,” he said.

“I urge the government to decrease the cost of living.”

Back to the issue of water, Fuaina said he will take any help he can get.

“We know the importance of water. No one can survive without water.”

“A water tank would be nice.”

If you can help Fuaina, he can be contacted on telephone 7752385.
