China congratulates Samoa

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi and his ruling Human Rights Protection Party (H.R.P.P) have been congratulated by China for the outcome of the recent General Election. The congratulations are offered in three separate letters from senior Chinese officials, wishing the government the best for the next five years. The letters are published below:

Your Honorable, 

On the occasion of your re-election as the Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa, I wish to extend to Your Honorable on behalf of the Government of the People’s Republic of China and in my own name, warm congratulations and best wishes. I believe that under the leadership of Your Honorable the Samoan government and people will continue making new achievements in the development of the country. 

The bilateral relations between China and Samoa have made considerable progress since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1975, setting a model for the relations between China and the Pacific Island Countries. The cooperation between China and Samoa has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. 

I appreciate the efforts Your Honorable has made for the development of China-Samoa relations over the past years. The Chinese side attaches great importance to the bilateral relations and stands ready to work together with the Samoan side to deepen the friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation and push forward the strategic partnership between our two counties to achieve more new results.

Exchanges and communications between legislative bodies constitute an important part in relations between countries.
