Easter gathering unites youth

“Rejoice only in the power of the cross.” That is the theme of a three-day Easter camp for the Samoa Worship Centre Youth Ministry.

Held at the Faleata College, more than 400 young people are attending the camp.

Youth Pastor of the Worship Centre, Ps. Siagigi Va’afusuaga, said it has been amazing to see young people rise up for God.

“There is an increasing number of youth attending our camp from year to year since it was first started in 2004 …not only those within our own church but others from different churches,” he said.

“The past three days have been about bringing youths together to deepen their faith in Jesus Christ.

“The door was opened to anyone who wished to join us.”

Ps. Siagigi said their mission is to develop the character of Jesus Christ in young people.

“Changing young people’s lives is the work of the Holy Spirit and that’s why we are camping during this time of the year,” he said.

“It’s to remind these young ones and everyone of us here that the blood that shed on the cross was for everyone to be saved...all we have to do is to accept Him to be our Lord and Savior.”

“There’s so much happening these days especially fighting between schools and there’s nothing we can do but to lead and show them the love of Jesus on the cross for us, sinners.

“No matter what life will bring, there’s hope in the loving arms of God that will turn everything right in His own time.

“As Paul says - as for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.

Apostle Viliamu Mafoe was the main speaker at the camp.
