An eight-year-old boy was found dead near the road next at Tuaefu on Sunday afternoon.

This was confirmed by the Ministry of Police Superintendent, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, in response to questions from the Samoa Observer.

“I can confirm the death of the child, but I cannot give any details as an investigation is underway.”

Asked whether a post-mortem examination will be required in this case, Auapa’au declined to respond.

“No further comments from the Police, again investigation is underway.”

According to Police Officers who do not wish to be named, the young boy was found by his cousin unconscious near an electrical pole.

“Preliminary reports indicate the boy was allegedly electrocuted,” said the Officer.

The Samoa Observer reached out to the family of the deceased and the grandmother said: “In due time we will reach out to the media, maybe tomorrow, but for now we need to sort things out before we give a public comment.”
