IN NEED OF GOOD WATER SUPPLY- Tauvasa Toese from the village of Solosolo.

Tauvasa Toese, a 47 year old mother from the village of Solosolo believes that life is good in Samoa.

However, her family is facing one problem and that is the scarcity of water being supplied to their household.

She was spotted by the Village Voice trying to fill up a barrel of water from a water pipe on the side of the road for her family at Solosolo. She was with her daughter Elena Grace Toese.

Tauvasa told the Village Voice yesterday that it has been a while since there has been a lack of water to the side of the village where they are staying.

Therefore, they collect water from a water pipe on the side of the road when the water supply they get at home runs really slow or does not run at all.

“As you can see, we are filling up a water barrel for our family this morning,” said Tauvasa.

“We are using water from this water pipe because the water no longer reaches our house. This is because our house is located on higher grounds and the water pipe doesn’t reach up to where we stay.

“And that’s why we come here every day to get water for our family. As you know, we all need water and it is very important for our survival.”

Tauvasa said they’ve contacted the Samoa Water Authority for help, because it’s not an easy task for them to keep collecting water from the side of the roads.

And so they are still waiting for a respond from them.

“We’ve contacted them and we are waiting at the moment. We went and bought pipes as well and we are hoping that help will be able to come our way soon.

“But for now, we are trying to figure out a way so that we can have access to good and clean water from where we stay so that we don’t have to keep coming here with barrels to get water.

“Hopefully we won’t have to do this anytime soon. It’s not easy, but I guess we are used to it.

“When we have access to water, it runs really slow and it takes a lot of time.”

According to Tauvasa they usually collect water using barrels and it’s mainly used for drinking and cooking their food.

“We also use it for our children because they need it for school and that’s why I come here often to collect water.

“Sometimes I send my children to do it. “As I mentioned before, everything is good here in the villages, but for me, that’s the only problem we have is the lack of water supply.

“And I hope and pray that we will be able to solve that anytime soon.”
