A man accused of forging the signature of the Chief Executive Office of the Land, Transport Authority (L.T.A), appeared in the Supreme Court yesterday.

Malolo Aumua, who works for a member of the diplomatic corps, is facing one count of forgery. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the Police summary of facts, the alleged incident occurred in 2015.

“On the 5th August, 2015, the defendant from Manunu and Lalovaea is accused of giving false information and forging signature of the Head of L.T.A (Puleaga Sili) in a transfer letter of ownership, with the intention of using that letter,” the Court heard.

Presiding over the matter was Supreme Court Justice Mata Keli Tuatagaloa.

Ofisa Tagaloa, of the Attorney General’s Office, is the prosecutor.

The Court heard from Aumua that he has yet to receive a copy of the charges.

“Your Honor I have an attorney,” he said.

“He is Alex Su’a. I spoke with him with regards to the matter, however my lawyer told me that he is still waiting for the copies of the charges.

“At the moment I will answer to the charges while my lawyer prepares for the copies of the charges.”

Aumua then pleaded not guilty.

“The Court has noted your not guilty plea,” Justice Tuatagaloa responded.

“Therefore this matter will be set down for hearing on the week commencing the 19th of February 2018.”
