Community trainers add to their skills

The Assessment and Competency Standards course for Community Trainers commenced last  Monday.

It was designed to develop and encourage a skilful pool of trainers in building the capacity of community based organisations as well as non-governmental organisations.

Trainer, Tauvaga Va’ai emphasized the importance of being competent and exceeding in assessment skills. 

By the end of the 5 days training the participants were able to plan and organize assessment; use assessment tools to collect evidence; make decisions of competency based upon evidence gathered; provide feedback for assessment candidates and evaluate assessment tools and participate in assessment validation activities.

They could also explain competency based assessment; discuss competency standards and other performance benchmarks; explain the purposes of assessment and different assessment contexts and describe types of assessment tools.

The training was held at the SUNGO Office Vaitele-Tai and officially closed on Friday with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
