Relaxing by the pool at Tanoa Tusitala Hotel is where Samoa Observer met the Aussie trio of Kosara, Rolly Dimitrosky and their friend Harry Wilder.

They had become friends after witnessing other mutual friends wed a couple of days ago on the island and now were enjoying the rest of their holiday in tropical Samoa.

Eight days into their holiday all of them agree that their experiences so far have been so delightful and although they’re from different areas of Australia, they all have one thing in common – a connection to Samoa through the bride who is of Samoan descent .

“Well I’m a bit special because I married a quarter caste Samoan woman so we have always had a connection with the Samoans  - our children and grandchildren will always be somewhat linked to this country,” said Harry Wilder.

Harry reminisced of his last visit to Samoa in 2000 and the one thing that stands out as a point of change he said is that “taxis used to be one tala anywhere around the island! But aside from that nothing much has changed including the people. The people are still wonderful.”

Rolly Dimitrosky added that after circumnavigating both islands in the last week he agreed with Harry that he had the same positive experiences with the Samoan people saying to the Samoa  Observer “ We love the people, absolutely beautiful people – very easy going and polite. We haven’t come across a single negative experience here”

Mrs. Dimitrosky chimes in from her sun chair by saying “the weather has been glorious here. It has been kind to us and we will definitely be back and we will certainly take our positive experiences back with us and tell our friends about them, like everything else word of mouth is the best form of marketing and that’s exactly how we’ve been guided here by following tips of other tourists and hotel staff recommendations”

When asked about what they considered unique about Samoa,  Rolly said “The surprising thing that we find (and we spoke to a few locals last night) about how many churches there are here – even a little village would have so many different churches.

We were trying to understand how within that little village even though they are all Christians they would have so many different churches. We wanted to know how all these different denominations get along in such a small village, it’s really very interesting.”

Well Mr Dimitrosky you’ll  just have to find out on your next visit to the intriguing islands of Samoa.
