The Police are investigating an incident where a 56-year-old male was found dead and hanging inside his house at Afega last week.

This was confirmed by the Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Sala’a Moananu Sala’a, yesterday when he was contacted by the Samoa Observer.

“According to police reports, the deceased is married with children,” Sala’a said.

“However his wife and children all based overseas so he is the only one here in Samoa."

“The family of the deceased reported the matter to the Afega Police Office. We are investigating the matter as we speak."

“We will have more details when the investigation is finished.”

According to a man who knows the deceased, the man’s death has come as a huge shock.

The man who spoke to the Samoa Observer on the condition of anonymity said the deceased was a taxi driver who worked for a Taxi Stand in town.

“I called his cell phone that whole morning but he did not answer,” said his friend.

“It was unusual for him not to come to the Stand and that’s why I called his mobile to see if he was coming or if he was sick."

“After so many calls to his phone and he did not answer, I decided to visit his place in Afega."

“When I arrived at his place I saw his car parked outside his house so I knocked but he didn’t answer."

“I then opened the door and saw him hanging."

“I came back and I reported the matter to the Police at Afega.”
