1st-place Sharks increase lead in Australia's NRL

The Cronulla Sharks enhanced their first-place lead in Australia's National Rugby League and won their 11th consecutive match with a 19-18 overtime victory Saturday over the New Zealand Warriors.

James Maloney kicked the winning field goal for Cronulla in the second extra period to give the Sharks a four-point lead over the Melbourne Storm, who play the Wests Tigers on Sunday.

In other matches, Benji Marshall led St. George Illawarra to a 30-18 win over Newcastle, scoring a try and setting up three others to hand the Knights their ninth consecutive loss. Bryce Cartwright set up three of Penrith's five tries as the Panthers beat South Sydney 28-26.

On Monday, North Queensland plays Manly.

Parramatta and the Sydney Roosters had weekend byes.
