Reverend Elder Tautiaga Senara is the new Chairman of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (C.C.C.S.).

He succeeds Reverend Elder Tunumoso Iosia.

He was elected yesterday, at the end of the two-week General Conference at Malua.

The last activity was the election of leaders to drive the church for the next year.

In accepting the role, Reverend Elder Tautiaga thanked the Church for trusting in him.

He acknowledged the support from all members of the church and was thankful that he’s able to continue his service in the Church through his new calling as Chairman of the Church.

The General Secretary, Reverend Vavatau Taufao, who took up the role from Rev. Afereti Uili in 2015, will continue to his third year to complete his term.

“I am thankful for the opportunity afforded to me by the Church and the trust and faith they have in my abilities to carry forth the work of the Church,” Rev. Vavatau said.

“The decision for us to serve in the Church lies solely with the Church and I am happy that we are doing things this way. God’s way is the only way.”

Rimoni Wright has been re-elected as the Treasurer.

This year the C.C.C.S. paid tribute to eight elders of the Church who became pensioners.

They are: Reverend Elder Liki and Eseta Tiatia of America; Reverend Menu and Filifilia Puni of New Zealand; Reverend Elder Faatauoloa and Susana Maualaivao of Apia; Reverend Elder Setu and Leatuvai Samitioata also of Apia; Reverend Fuifui and Ropeta Teevale of Apia; Reverend Ekelosi and Lila Viliamu from Faleata; Reverend Falemalu and Fetalai Avaio of Falealili-Safata-Siumu and finally Reverend Gutu and Mesepa Fa’asau from Ituotane.
