In April 2017, Bluebird and SIKA (NZ) moved to expand its services to the installation of complex systems in Waterproofing and Joint Sealing.

By providing such complex systems, it requires certification and up skilling of selected Applicators.

That’s why Bluebird engaged the Construction Companies; Ah Liki Construction, Schwalger Design and Build and Lucky Construction to be to be trained to become approved SIKA Applicators.

Bluebird Lumber and Hardware was appointed by SIKA New Zealand in October 2016 to be the official SIKA Agent to service Samoa, Cook Islands, American Samoa, Tonga and Niue.

Sika is a world renowned company that specialises in chemicals that provides systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing, and protecting in the building sector and the automotive industry. The business focuses on the following seven target markets; Concrete, Waterproofing, Roofing, Flooring, Sealing and Bonding, Refurbishment and Industry.

Since being appointed as Sika Agents, Bluebird has expanded its SIKA Range of products in its stores and has worked closely with Sika NZ to deliver these products to the neighbouring islands.

The three Sika Applicators conducted thorough training in the Theory and Practical application of these systems. The training was conducted by Sika (NZ) Trainer, Mike O’Brian, accompanied by Sika Technical Specialist, Dominic Sulisfianto.

Essentially, the three systems are named and applied as follows;

1. Sikadur Combiflex System – A unique joint sealing systems that allows considerable movement in more than one direction while maintaining a durable watertight seal. This system has been applied in joints of Concrete Tanks and Bridges in Samoa.

2. Sika Roof MTC Systems – A waterproofing membrane applied to concrete roof tops.

3.  Sikaproof A – A flexible membrane waterproofing system designed for installation before the steel reinforcement is fixed and structural concrete is poured.

“Bluebird and Sika (NZ) are pleased to have Approved Sika Applicators in Samoa, and see the many benefits it will bring about to the Building and Infrastructure Industry of Samoa,” the company says.

“By having three Approved Sika Applicators will bring cost effective measures to the Industry. This saves Samoa from having to rely on New Zealand and Australia Contractors to provide such services. In addition, servicing of neighbouring islands under the Bluebird Agency and in collaboration with the Approved Sika Applicators will bring in business opportunities to Samoa.

“Bluebird Lumber & Hardware in partnership with SIKA New Zealand would like to thank all three Approved Sika applicators; Ah Liki Construction, Schwalger Design & Build & Lucky Construction and its loyal customers for making this service possible & available to Samoa and its neighbouring islands.”
