Tough competition as volleyball league heats up

Round 4 of the Volleyball Samoa Federation National League saw some very tough games last week.

Played at the Samoa Independence Seventh Day Adventist Hall at Fugalei from Monday to Thursday evenings, Volleyball Samoa Federation Media Officer, Leute Mataipule, said they hope to grow the sport among local players. 

 “We are mainly focusing on the growth of the sport here in Samoa,” she said.

“We are also looking at this tournament to identify players for our National teams to represent Samoa at the upcoming Oceania in Fiji, as well as the Pacific Games.”

In the Men’s Division One, Uimaiama team from Samatau defeated Shield Holder Spicey from Si’usega.

Other results from round four of the Men’s Division saw Lupe o le Soaga defeating Liona, Titans defeating Faleolo Jets, Lona Youth defeated Fagali’I while I’asa from Leusoali’i defeated Tausala.

In the Women’s division, Lupe o le Soaga women’s retained their Shield title defeating Mud Girls.

Segaula Girls defeated Tausala girls winning both sets, Lona Youth defeating I’asa girls and Teine ole Aoa from Fagaloa defeating Sister’s United team to a final set match.

Men’s division one category top eight playoff saw Fagalii 1 defetaed Tama o le Aoa winning both sets, while Supakako from Leauva’a defeating Mt Fao team to a final set.

Faglii 1 won 2-0 Tama o le Aoa (Fagaloa)

Supakako won 2-1 Mt Fao

Bottom Nine

One Blood won 2-1 Lona Youth

Leusoalii EFKS won 2-0 Omo Boys

Paepaeulupo’o won 2-0 Fagali’i 2

Ifilele Aasa won 2-1 I’asa (Shield Match)

Women’s 

Teine ole Aoa won 2-1 Sisters United 

Segaula Girls won 2-0 Tausala

Lona Youth won 2-1 I’asa

Lupe ole Soaga won 2-1 Mud Girls (Shield Match)

Men’s Division One

Lupe ole Soaga won 2-1 Liona

Titan won 2-1 Faleolo Jets

I’asa won 2-0 Tausala

Lona Youth won 2-1 Fagali’i

Uimaiama won 2-1 Spicey (Shield Match)
