Former Cabinet Minister, Hans Joachim Keil, has been re-elected the Chairman of Fa’ataua Le Ola.

The decision was made when F.L.O. conducted its Annual General Meeting for 2016 yesterday at the Hotel Millenia.

The Chairman presided over the meeting which was well attended with 25 financial members.

Special guest was Founder and Life Patron of the Organisation, Misa Telefoni Retzlaff.

During the Chairman’s address, he reiterated F.L.O’s vision which is a Samoa that is fully empowered to value life and prevent suicide.

He also spoke about its mission to provide information, services and support to assist in the prevention of suicide.

He went to highlight its goals which include: 

• To provide qualitive services to people in need 

• To provide  information to the community for self care and others

• To show leadership in the area of suicide awareness and prevention and 

• To be an effective, efficient and well funded organization   

He reiterated that F.L.O’s message throughout 2016 was one of hope. 

“Hope for every man, woman and child to live a normal healthy life and attain a happy and successful future.    

Streamlined in accordance with its project objectives for 2017  ‘A Healthy Mind, A Healthy Body’, A Healthy Spirit,”

Misa Telefoni also addressed the meeting.

He reiterated the Chairman’s message of hope.  

Misa spoke about F.L.O’s difficult journey which began in 2000 out of a need to address the high rate of suicide in Samoa, during the years of his ministerial appointment as Minister of Health.  

Misa thanked the Chairman, the Executive Council, Members and Staff of F.L.O for championing the cause of suicide awareness and prevention in spite of the many obstacles that continue to challenge the Organisation.
