SYDNEY (AP) — Wallaby Quade Cooper is in line for his rugby sevens debut after being named in the 12-man Australia squad for the Las Vegas Sevens next week.

The 58-test flyhalf has previously trained with the squad for two sessions ahead of the Sydney Sevens this month.

Coach Andy Friend said Friday, "Having had a few training sessions with the squad earlier this month ... we'll be in a much better position to utilize his skill-set."

Australia has been placed in Pool B alongside England, Scotland and Japan for the Las Vegas tournament from March 4-6.

New Zealand, Fiji and South Africa are level for top spot in the series after four rounds. Australia is fourth.

Rugby sevens will make its Olympic debut at Rio de Janeiro in August.
